Ten wellness tips to live by

A recent speaker at the college in the city I live in offered some great wellness tips that everyone can learn from.
The biggest point I took from Dr. Michael Roizen’s talk as part of a wellness series of speakers was that no matter what kind of genes life dealt you, it’s possible to make changes that will improve your health.
Here are Dr. Roizen’s 10 tips to a healthier life:
1. Know you get a do-over; you can make changes now to improve your health.
2. Walk 30 minutes a day to inhibit the emergence of bad genes.
3. Call a buddy so you are not doing this alone.
4. Avoid the five foods (saturated fats, trans fats, sugars, syrups and any grains that are not whole grains). Dr. Roizen made it a point to say “throw these out” if they’re in your kitchen.
5. Take pills (like DHA, vitamin D3, calcium and a probiotic).
6. Floss.
7. Keep blood pressure around 120/80.
8. Sleep 6.5-8 hours a night.
9. Lift weights.
10. Love something and do it.
Sounds like pretty good advice to live by. I thought they made up an excellent outline for someone to follow and hope readers of my blog will appreciate them too.
