Utilizing proper breathing techniques is often most important during weight training exercises.  While engaging in weight training or strength resistance exercises, you should exhale during exertion and then inhale during your release.  If you are doing curls, for example, you should exhale when you curl up and then inhale when you move back down.  If you are doing crunches, on the other hand, will need to exhale while you go up and then inhale when you go down.

Using proper breathing techniques will help you make the most of your muscles and put off getting exhausted.  As a result, you will be able to do a complete workout without getting lightheaded and while giving your muscles the oxygen they need to work properly.

Running Breathing Techniques

There are many different types of breathing techniques that can be used while running, as everyone runs a bit differently and needs to develop a breathing technique that works best for them.  The key is to find a rhythmic pattern that you can stick to while running.  For example, every time your left foot hits the ground, you can breathe out.  The way you breathe, however, may vary.  Some people prefer to take two quick breaths through their noses and then make two quick breaths out through their mouth.  Or, you may prefer to take long breaths both in and out.  Play around with different techniques so you can find the method that works best for you.
