Tellwut survey finds 39 percent of people won’t return to public gyms, or will return less frequently after COVID-19

At Home Fitness provides award-winning equipment, service for home gyms

A recent Tellwut survey found that 39 percent of people will not return to public gyms, or will return less frequently, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Simply put, about 4 out of 10 people are more comfortable exercising at home than in a public gym. This number figures to only increase in the coming months.

Tellwut surveyed over 2,500 people about the effects of COVID-19 on the fitness industry. The survey found that following the end of the stay-at-home measures, 27 percent of physically active people reported they will not be returning to the gym, and 12 percent reported they will return but less frequently.

This kind of attitude, which is completely understandable, and in my opinion a safe decision, will revolutionize the fitness industry.

As people come to appreciate the ease and safety in which they can work out at home, the desire to return to expensive gym memberships diminishes. People are putting a bigger investment than ever into their home gyms.

Twenty one percent of Tellwut respondents said they have purchased equipment for their home gym during the pandemic, and 49 percent stated they already owned equipment for their gym prior to social distancing measures.

People are realizing they can stay fit, be safe and have fun exercising at home.

Of the equipment purchased during COVID-19, treadmills and free weights seemed to be the most popular among survey respondents.

Also popular choices stationary bikes, Peloton Bikes and ellipticals

The pandemic has also increased the market of physically active people, as 13 percent of the survey group who did not work out before the pandemic, began to work out at home, and 14% of those who previously worked out at home now find themselves increasing their daily physical activity.
