Today is National Running Day!

Did you know there’s a National Running Day?
Well there is, and it’s today, June 6, 2012!
Observed each year on the first Wednesday in June, National Running Day sheds light and opens discussions about this great form of exercise.
According to the National Running Day website, it is “a day when runners everywhere declare their passion for running.
“Wherever we are and whomever we’re with, we run – fast or slow, alone or with others, all over town or just around the block,” the National Running Day site continued. “It is a coast-to-coast celebration of a sport and activity that’s simple, inexpensive and fun. It’s the perfect way for longtime runners to reaffirm their love of running and for beginners to kick off a lifetime and life-changing commitment.”
Whether your run on a track, park, roads, the beach, around your block, on a home treadmill or somewhere else, National Running Day encourages people to “wear your running shoes, grab a friend, and go!”
We are also encouraged to eat healthy and lead fitter lives in conjunction with this special day.
The event also promotes eating healthy and leading fitter lives.
National Running Day is trending on Twitter and has been “liked’ on Facebook by more than 35,000 users.
Get on Facebook and check out the National Running Day page and read what running means to others and add your own thoughts.
Then, go out and pay tribute to this special day by going for, what else, a run.
